Your ClickBank Check
August 21, 2008
I have mentioned the requirements you must meet in order to get your first ClickBank check in previous posts. But it can be a bit confusing why you are not getting paid even though you have made some sales.
The main roadblock is something innocently called the CDR: Customer Distribution Requirement
ClickBank accounts cannot be used for the sole purpose of collecting rebates or otherwise extending credit to yourself or others. In compliance with US law, ClickBank will withhold payment of any account balance until it contains standing sales made with 5 or more different credit card numbers, including at least one Visa card, and one MasterCard. PayPal purchases do not count toward the minimum.
So your sales need to meet the above criteria before you will ever get a check. The next hurdle is your minimum check amount which you set in your account details. The default is $100, so once you meet the CDR you must have the minimum check amount in order to get a check. Higher is sometimes better here because there is a $2 fee per check.
I was asked recently about the check itself and how it arrives. It comes via the regular USPS mail to your address of record in your account. It is a plain business envelope with a return address of WWW.CLICKBANK.COM . It could easily get mistaken for junk mail so be sure to look carefully. Inside you will simply find a check and nothing else. It will have your name and address as well as your ClickBank id. Just for the record, the checks are paid from Wells Fargo Bank out of Boise, Idaho.
ClickBank also has direct deposit options:
ClickBank is pleased to offer direct deposit of your ClickBank account payment to U.S. bank accounts at no extra charge. An account must have first received three paper paychecks within any 90-day period before it is eligible to enroll in direct deposit. Direct deposits may take 1-2 business days to reach your account, although many direct deposits are received on the same day that we send them.
They also offer international Direct Deposit for their worldly affiliates.
All your payment, or lack of payment, information can be found under the Reporting tab of your ClickBank account.
Why You Need Multiple ClickBank Accounts
August 18, 2008
I love ClickBank. There is really no other way to say it. You put your product in the marketplace and you immediatly get a stream of affiliates promoting for you day and night.
There is one odd little glitch in the system however. What if you have two products?
This is not a problem for Clickbank, you can have up to 500 products on one account.
BUT…
You can only have one site page.
Have You Started to Build Your Empire?
May 17, 2008
Lets just imagine for a moment that you don’t have a marketing budget. You want to start promoting Clickbank products but every thing you bump into costs money and you don’t have any.
Whether you are in school and have no income or have a disagreeable partner, there is plenty you can do that does not cost you a dime. (reading this website for training and tips for instance)
What is the difference between the two Hoplinks automatically generated when you use the link “create hoplink” in the Marketplace?
May 13, 2008
When generating a Hoplink via the ClickBank Marketplace, you are presented with seemingly two options.
However, the Hoplinks are both the same. The one on top is simply your properly formatted Hoplink in the
following format: http://AFFILIATE.PUBLISHER.hop.clickbank.net.
The one below is an example of that same Hoplink in HTML. You must utilize HTML when using Hoplinks on
your own web site. The ClickBank Hoplink in HTML looks like this (with no line breaks):
<a href=”http:// AFFILIATE.PUBLISHER.hop.clickbank.net” target=”_top”>CLICK HERE</a>
As an affiliate, do I need to submit my Hoplinks for product approval?
May 12, 2008
As an affiliate you do not need to submit your Hoplinks for product approval.
Since there is no approval process for Hoplinks, you must be certain that your Hoplinks are formatted
properly before you start your promotions.
You can verify that your links are set up correctly by following the steps outlined below:
1. Enter your Hoplink into a new browser window, and hit “”Enter.”
2. Click on one of the publisher’s ClickBank order buttons.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the ClickBank order form. You should see your account nickname listed as
the affiliate. For example, [affiliate = jane1].
This test proves that your link is set up correctly. It also ensures that your account will be credited with any
commissions earned from customers who order as a direct result of your referral.
Remember, ClickBank does not keep a list of all Hoplinks affiliates create. As such, you are not able to view
your Hoplinks within your ClickBank account. When you create Hoplinks we recommend that you save them,
for example in a document file on your computer.
As an affiliate, do I need to make a Thank You Page?
May 9, 2008
From the top affiliate questions at Clickbank:
Affiliates do not need to make a Thank You Page or set up a Hoplink Target URL.
A ClickBank account is set up to be used by both a publisher and an affiliate. As such, there are some settings within the account that are only relevant to the publisher. Specifically, clients who wish to be affiliates only do not need to fill out the information requested on the “My Site” and “My Products” links under the “Account Settings” tab. As an affiliate, you only need to create your Hoplinks and start promoting them.
Please note, a “Hoplink” is different than a “Hoplink Target URL.”
A Hoplink is the method ClickBank uses to successfully track a sale and give the proper affiliate credit. A Hoplink Target URL is the pitch page, or sales page, for the publisher’s product. When a customer clicks on an affiliate’s Hoplink they are taken to the publisher’s Hoplink Target URL.
I opened an affiliate account, now what do I do?
May 6, 2008
ClickBank affiliates earn a commission for every sale they successfully promote.
As an affiliate, your next steps are:
1. Choose which products you want to promote
2. Create correctly formatted Hoplinks
3. Place your Hoplinks to promote your chosen products

Where are the Hoplinks I created?
May 5, 2008
From the top affiliate questions at Clickbank:
ClickBank does not keep a list of the Hoplinks affiliates create. As such, you are not able to view your
Hoplinks within your ClickBank account.
When you create Hoplinks, we recommend that you save them somewhere you can reference them, for example in a document file on your computer.
You need to remember that hoplinks are not actual URL’s. They are links to your chosen product page. They are unique because they contain data about who you are (your affiliate name) and also who the vendor is. Clickbank uses these to keep track of who gets credit for the sale of the many different products.
If you lost your hoplink, you can always go back into the Clickbank marketplace, look up your product, and generate the hoplink again.
How Do I Get Paid?
April 24, 2008
This is a summary of the Clickbank accounting policy which can be read here.
Pay periods end at 12:00:01 am Pacific time on the 1st and 16th of each month. Checks are mailed within 15 days after the end of the pay period.
Why Niche Marketing?
April 21, 2008
Why niche marketing? Everyone who has considered starting a new website has probably asked themselves this question. Why would you want to limit yourself to a small corner of the web? I will shed some light on this topic for you.
If you were going to start a new website today do you think you could make more money competing against Amazon or “Dan’s Store” when it comes to getting visitors to your website. Because of the competition, it makes more sense to go up against Dan’s Store. Going up against Amazon and trying to match their company will get you nowhere fast.
